Vetrinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM)

Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM) re-establishes neuronal communication in the nervous system by finding and reducing all spinal subluxations (neurological miscommunication resulting in pain, paralysis or loss of function). Essentially, VOM is used to treat pain in the body. Your dog or cat’s body holds the memory of pain. The subluxation syndrome is a reflex pain arc that does not go to the brain; rather, it holds pain locally within the spine segment causing a subluxation.

VOM is similar to chiropractic adjustments except that it does not rely on chiropractic listings. Listings are reads that tell the chiropractor where to do the adjustments. Chiropractors rely on their hands to detect listings and up to 70% of listings may be missed. VOM treats the entire spine every time and thus rebalances the spine and not just the listings. VOM’s signal knocks out the reflex pain arc, releases endorphins and increases the blood flow to the tissues. VOM utilizes a device that is similar to an activator; however, the VOM device can be used to treat a canary or an elephant and anything in between.

Although VOM is not restricted to mobility issues, a radiograph (X-rays) should be performed on all pets that have physical mobility problems, soreness or stiffness.

VOM treatments are not harmful for your pet. Your pet may react to the first VOM treatment by feeling sluggish within the first 24 hours following the VOM. This can occur when the many spinal muscles relax and blood flows through the muscles removing inflammatory chemicals. It takes 1 or 2 days for the body to eliminate the inflammatory mediators that were trapped in the muscle and subluxations.

Three to five VOM treatments are recommended (each session spaced 1 week apart).
