Polysan Therapy

What is really interesting about this form of therapy is that it is interactive—you’ll be right there with your pet, observing the testing as it takes place.

Polysans are a group of 10 Sanum remedies developed by Dr. Carl Spengler (1860-1937) and are used as antigen testers.

Our technician will take a small sample of blood from your pet to be tested against a number of different types of bacteria as antigen testers. We combine one drop of your pet’s blood with one drop of the antigen and observe for agglutination (clumping). The purpose of this test is to observe a Positive Reaction: blood coagulating with bacterial sample indicates that this type of bacteria is present in the blood and requires treatment (a Polysan remedy).

What does it mean to have a positive clumping agglutination test? If your pet has had a chronic inflammatory condition involving bacteria that has not been cultured and identified, the collection of 10 different bacterium in the Spengler test kit combined with the blood drop may be an indication that this bacteria has been present in the body. By administering the Polysan, it helps to eliminate any left over infection by stimulating the immune system.

Polysan therapy enables the immune system to eliminate residual bacteria in the body. In theory, appropriate Polysan remedies re-stimulate the immune system by retagging bacteria: antigens are placed back on the bacterial wall so that the immune system can recognize them and mount an immune response. The Polysan remedy can be given orally or rubbed onto the skin and is used for 2 to 3 months. Then you allow your pet’s body to rest for another 2 to 3 months (giving the body time to react). Following the resting period, a retest is done.
